ርሀቡ እያደረሰ ያለው ጉዳት በአለም አቀፍ ደረጃ ከተቀመጠው መጠን በላይ መሆኑንም ለእርዳታ ተቋማት እጅግ አሳሳቢ እየሆነ መምጣቱን የአለም ምግብ ፕሮግራም ቃል አቀባል ቻሊስ ምክዶኑግ አስረድተዋል። በርካታ አለም አቀፍ የእርዳታ ተቋማት በስድስት ክልሎች ተከስቶ ያለውን የድርቅ አደጋ ከአንድ ወር በኃላ ወደ ረሃብ ሊለወጥ ይችላል የሚል ስጋት እንዳለ በመግለጽ ላይ ናቸው፡፡ ድርቁ እያደረሰ ያለው ጉዳትም ከተጠበቀው በላይ ከፍተኛ መሆኑን ዩኤስ ቱደይ ጋዜጣ ዘግቧል።

While we were living in hamlets and villages in non-navigable continent, Europe was monopolizing the world trade and building cities and empires. Ask yourself why Africa’s economy is still crawling while some of the “Third World” nations have already emerged out of the crisis and are catching up with the world market economies. Don’t tell me it is because Americans hate Amhara people or that sort of crap. Why many africans flee to the white mans land when they get the slightest chance? Why the majority of african intellectuals end up in politics, abandoning their training in science and technology?
