የሰብአዊ መብት ድርጅቱ በመግለጫው የጠቀሰው አኃዝ፣ እስካሁን መንግሥት ካረጋገጠው ቁጥር ሆነም ሌሎች የመብት ተሟጋች ድርጅቶች ከዚህ በፊት ከጠቀሱት ቁጥር በእጅጉ የላቀ ነው። መንግሥት ግን በዚህ ሰልፍ ምክንያት የ5 ሰዎችን ሞት ብቻ ነው እስካሁን ድረስ ያመነው።
ሳምንታት በላይ እየተካሄዱ ባሉት የኦሮምያ ክልል ተቃውሞ ሰልፎች፣ በክልሉ በትንሹ ወደ 140 የሚደርሱ ሰዎች መሞታቸውን፣ የሰብአዊ መብት ታጋዮች ዛሬ ዐርብ ለዓለም አቀፍ የሰብአዊ መብት ድርጅት (Human Rights Watch) ገልጸዋል።
የሰብአዊ መብት ድርጅቱ በመግለጫው የጠቀሰው አኃዝ፣ እስካሁን መንግሥት ካረጋገጠው ቁጥር ሆነም ሌሎች የመብት ተሟጋች ድርጅቶች ከዚህ በፊት ከጠቀሱት ቁጥር በእጅጉ የላቀ ነው።
የድረጅቱ የአፊርካ ቀንድ፣ ማለትም በኢትዮጵያ እና በኤርትራ ጥናት የሚያካሄዱ ቃል-አቀባይ ፊሊክስ ሆርን (Felix Horne) ስለየሟቾቹ ቁጥር እርግጠኛ ግምት ማግኘት እንዳልተቻለም ለቪኦኤ ገልጸዋል።
ይህ የ140 ሰዎች መሞት እናም በተጨማሪ ሌሎች አያሌ የመንግሥት ተቃዋሚዎች መቁሰል፣ እአአ ከ2005ቱ ምርጫ እና እአአ ከ2014ቱ በክልሉ የተደረጉ ሰልፎች ወዲህ በኢትዮጵያ መንግሥት ላይ የተካሄደ ትልቁ አመጽ ነው ብለዋል። መንግሥት ግን በዚህ ሰልፍ ምክንያት የ5 ሰዎችን ሞት ብቻ ነው እስካሁን ድረስ ያመነው። ሌሎች የተቃዋሚ ፓርቲ መሪዎች፣ ጋዜጥኞች፣ ተማሪዎችና ተራ ዜጎች መታሰራቸው እንዳሳሰባቸው አስረድተዋል።

Thanks, for the information about Mesfin. I was teasing his “doctorate” and “professorship” on purpose because he always tries to hide himself behind these titles that he did not really achieve. His mission is clear – to prove to us (the common people) that what is he saying is “scientific” and “ultimate”.
He has partly succeeded because some of his adherents are still trying to tell us that the Oromo have no country of their own. Some even tell us that the Oromo nation was formed just 25 years ago by TPLF. There were many fairy tales written by the so called “historians” telling us that the Oromo migrated from south to north,sprang from under the ocean or invaded this or that part of Ethiopia. This is to hide the crimes that the ruling classes or elites have been committing on the this part of the population for years.
What we know in practice is that the Oromo are ancient people who lived in this part of Africa for years having their own super democratic political system, language and culture. They neither migrated nor invaded anyone. What happened in the past is what is happening today. For instance, Oromos did not invade Tigray to be killed and beaten in mass by the TPLF army in their own homes today. Nor did they expropriate anyone’s wealth in the past to be brutally evicted from their small plots just in front of our eyes now.
Today, the Oromo have no intention to go anywhere or to be pushed around by anyone. This must be a shock for those who theorize that the Oromo is fighting for secession. No… that is not the purpose. The Oromo is fighting for its own right to exist as a nation against fascism, marginalization and genocide be it in Ethiopia or Ethiopia included it. I agree that the current “Oromia” is not the Greater Oromo Land. The Oromo nation extends to all areas in Ethiopia and to the Horn of Africa. It is significant to note that the struggle is much broader and strategic than what very many want to think. That is why what happens in Oromo Land determines what happens in Ethiopia and the region as a whole. And, that is why everyone has to support the Oromo struggle for freedom and democracy as part of its its own security, liberty and existence.

(1) This is not an Oromo “girgir”, but a real revolution from A-Z in Oromia. In this sense it is popular. It is quite a mistake to belittle it.One would feel how it pinches when his/her child, wife, brother,sister etc. is/are killed or brutalized. Don’t jock, this is an everyday life for the Oromo people.
(2) To name the ongoing mass resistance as an “Ethiopian revolution”, let us see an “Ethiopian” or “nationwide” uprising and capacity to organize in unison like we see in Oromia.
(3) To claim victory without any contribution or while relaxing in Washington is hallow, and it is just an extension of previous attempts to hijack revolutions. Such a claim has to come from those who die and brutally beaten by TPLF forces in Oromia. If not, it is like claiming a PhD or Professorship without achieving or earning it.
(4) The Oromo revolution is marching forward without anyone’s substantive support, and, as such it will triumph by itself.
(5) This media war would not predict the outcome of the ongoing revolution because the revolution was not born out of the media or anyone’s propaganda. Obviously, those who are crowding themselves to be relevant are the ones who try to buy some sympathy or win some spot provided that the TPLF’s regime of terror is dismantled by the Oromo revolution.
(6) Even then, the Oromo is ready to work with anyone who is willing to recognize its revolution, struggle for emancipation and democracy. Hate and insults will never be part of the solution. Better to join and it is never late!
