Regarding Haile Selassie and USA’s policy towards Ethiopia one idea was never raised and discussed among Ethiopians, namely that USA might have tried to make Ethiopia a WARNING EXAMPLE for other countries HOW NOT TO BEHAVE in dealing with ferenjis or USA.
We know that dictators kill opponents and leave their dead bodies on the road to warn others.
Proverb: “kill one to warn a hundred”.
So when we study and evaluate dying USA’s policy towards Ethiopia it looks like a USA attempt to make Ethiopia a warning example.
Perhaps our neighbours and other countries know that because they were directly or indirectly warned by dying superpower USA in the past. The warnings could have sounded like: ” behave or we will do to you what we did to Ethiopia”.
Seriously, we should perhaps ask neighbouring countries like Kenya and Uganda if pale skinned ferenji officials had in the past issued such warnings to them.
And those of us who observed cooperation between Eritrea and USA in their dealings with ESAT and G7 wondered if the USA has a policy to make Ethiopia permanently landlocked. (Dont forget, the landlocking by pale skinned ferenjis is part of that “warning example” policy)
And if that is the case then that is an indication that the story told to us (also by ESAT) in the past about the Asseb issue, namely that it was Meles who made Ethiopia landlocked, was lie.
It seems that the USA advances a very hostile policy towards Ethiopia and it was the country that made Ethiopia landlocked in 1991, and then asked Meles to take responsibility for that.
We must really assume that the real reason USA started supporting the TPLF and EPLF rebels was not to end the war as we heard on ESAT, but to implement a hostile USA plan that the country prepared perhaps in the 1970s or earlier.
The motive for the plan was likely revenge and the goal TO REVERSE ALL PROGRESS Haile Selassie made in border and territory matters as an ally of the USA since 1945.
Remember, USA managed to reverse the Ethiopia-Eritrea union in 1991 that Haile Selassie achieved with USA support, i guess in the late 1940s. In return Haile Selassie gave USA bases in Eritrea. But Derg threw the USA out of Eritrea and Ethiopia in 1976 or 1977. That could have been the time the USA vowed to revenge and REVERSE ALL PROGRESS Haile Selassie made since 1945 as a USA ally.
