መስፍን በብዙ ድርጊቱ፣ በብዙ አሠራር ፣ በኢትዮጵያነቱ ፣ ለሃገሩ የሚያስብ ነው፡፡ አንድ ጊዜ ሲያጫውተኝ ፣ ፕሬዝዳንት መንግስቱ አንድ ቀን ከቤት አስጠሩኝና አነጋገሩኝ፡፡ ያሉኝ ምንድነው <<ደብረዘይት መንገድ ላይ አንዲት ቅጠል ተሸክመው የሚሄዱ አሮጊትን መኪና ገጭቷቸው ጠፋ፡፡ ስለዚህ የኝህን ሴት ደም መበቀል አለብን፡፡ ይሄን እንድታደርግልኝ እፈልጋለው>> አሉኝ፡፡በኋላ እደጅ ወጥቼ <<ኢትዮጵያ ለድሆቿ የሚያስብ መራ አሁን አገኘች>>አልኩኝ፡፡ <<ይሄንንም ነገር እንደራሴ ጉዳይ ወስጄ ከፖሊስም ከምንሞ ብዬ ገጪውን ማግኘት አለብኝ ብዬ ተነሳሁ፡፡ በመንግሥቴ በጣም ደስ አለኝ፡፡ያንን ጉዳይ አጣራሁ፡፡ ጉዳዩን ከሚመለከተው ፖሊስ ጋር አገናኘሁና ፖሊስ ደረሰበት፡፡ ሰውዬውን ፍርድ ቤት አቅርበው ቀጡት እና በዚህ ደስ አለኝ፡፡ በኋላ ግን እየቆዩ ፣ እየቆዩ ከተነሱበት ዓላማ እየሸሹ ሲመጡ ራቅሁ>> ብሎ አጫወተኝ፡፡ አሁንም ያኔ በመንግስቱ ሀይለማርያም ዙርያ የነበሩ እንዚ ሶሻሊዝምን ተምረናል የሚሉ ፣ ኮሚንዝምን እናውቃለን የሚሉ ሁሉ ፕሮፌሰር መስፍን ኮሚኒስት ሳይሆን ፣ ዲሞክራት ነው የሚል ታርጋ ለጠፋበት፡፡
ደግሞ አንድ ቀን እንደዚሁ ፕሬዝዳንቱ አስጠሩትና አነጋገሩት፡፡ እኔ አልነበርኩም፡፡ እነሱ ሲነጋገሩ አጠገባቸው ሆነው የተባባሉትን የሰማው ሻምበል ፣ <<እኝህ የርስዎ ወዳጅ ፕሮፌሰር መስፍን አበዱ ልበል? ፕሬዝዳንቱ ጋር ቀርበው ፣ ይሄንን አድርገን ፣ ይሄንን ፈጥረን>>ሲሏቸው ፣ <<መቼም ጏድ መንግስቱ ፣ እርሶዎ እኮ በመሪነትዎ ለወደፊት ለታሪክም ጭምር ማሰብ ይገባዎታል፡፡ ታራክ ደግሞ ዛሬ አዲስ ዘመን ጋዜጣ ለይ ስለርስዎ የሚጻፈው አይመስልዎት፡፡ በዚህ ላይ በጣም ፣ በጣም ጥንቃቄ ማድረግ ያስፈልጋል>> ብለው ደፍረው ተናገሯቸው፡፡ መንግስቱም ቅር አላቸውና ወጥተው ሄዱ አለኝ፡፡ እኔም መስፍን ወዳጄ ስለሆነ አስጠራሁትና << እንዴት ነው አንተ እንደዚህ ብለህ የተናገርከው?>> አልኩት እሱም << የነተናገርኩት አንተ ጋር ይደርሳል ብዬ አላሰብኩም፡፡ ግን እኮ ያልኩት ትክክል ነው፡፡ አንተ እንዴት አየኸው?>> አለኝ፡፡ << አይደለም ሰውዬውን በለሰለሰ ሁኔታ ብትያዘቸው ይሻላል እንጂ እንዲህ ጠንከር ስትል ያገሉሃል፡፡ ሃሳብህን እንኳን እንዲህ ነው ብለህ ለማለት ዕድል አታገኝም>> አልኩት፡፡ ስለዚህ መስፍን እንዲህ ነው ፣ እንዲህ ነው የሚባለው ነገር ከጥላቻ ይመስለኛል እንጂ እሱ በንጉሠ ጊዜ የነበረው አቋም ፣ በደርግ ጊዜ የነበረው አቋም ፣ አሁንም በኢሐዴግ ያው ነው፡፡ አልተለወጠም፡፡ ኢትዮጵያ ፣ እውነተኛ ኢትዮጵያዊ አላት ብዬ የምለው ሰው ነው፡፡

That was absolutely correct and a great advice.
How old was Mengistu at the time ? In his 30s i guess. And how old was the Professor ? Perhaps in his 40s.
In many countries persons below 40 are not allowed to be elected to lead a country, likely due to lack of wisdom.
So, i am sure, today Mengistu is thankful of that advice of the Professor when he thinks about it. And had he listened to that advice he would have resigned early, say in 1990 or months before May 1991 and given a more popular leader the chance to mobilize Ethiopians against the rebels. But now as things are he will be hated forever for staying in power till the last hours and then fleeing from the country by exposing his soldiers and country to great danger.
Now, Mengistu should at least confess that he was a CIA agent. And that the French and Americans supported him to gain power for allowing Djibouti to go.

Pro. Meaefine I respected his achadamic back ground but when you come to politics he so acrobatist and jail fish.
