I think it was around 4:30pm and I was chatting with my colleagues in the office. Two guys walked in asked \u201cwho is Natnael\u201d when I was sitting on my friend\u2019s chair and talking. Immediately one of my friends pointed as me and identified me. None of us have a clue about what is going on. I confirmed to the two guys that I am Natnael. Then they told me that they wanted me. I said \u201cwait let me close my laptop\u201d and they said they also wanted the laptop and they took it. Then I told them that I need to inform my boss and they said I don\u2019t need to. Then they fetched an extra chair and left me alone on the corridor. When I asked who they are they showed me a court warrant. I saw Befqe\u2019s and Atnex\u2019s name on the paper. Then I got it.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

I sat on the corridor quite for some time. I stated to greet my colleagues that were passing on the corridor leaving the office and heading home. I can see their confusion. Normal life continued as if nothing happened. However, I was feeling the world is moving. There are moments where I thought of, even shocked in thinking of being imprisoned. Now I realized that it is the real moment to be imprisoned. The car that the guys were waiting for arrived and we started heading to my house. On our way home, I noticed the people and the city; life goes on. They ordered me to show them my room once we get home. I tried to push the children in the compound to go to their study. The children refused the kept on coming to me. I was disturbed by the children. <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

When my house was searched I tried to cover up so that the kids won\u2019t see. My father arrived while they were searching using the video recorder. Without any major sign of disturbance he took of his coat and sat down calmly. Slowly the mood started to be disrupted when my aunt arrived and other people in the compound heard about what\u2019s going on. I tried to calm them down.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

I ate my dinner after they finished the searching. Everyone in my family started to feel bad when I was about to leave the house holding my cloth in a plastic bag. I also felt the same especially when the kids started to pull me back by holding my hands. I hugged and kissed most of them. In the car when one of the police brought a handcuff I gave him both of my hands.  I was surprised by my own action.<\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

I read Mahi\u2019s name on the registration folder. I realized that they are also imprisoned. I was escorted to a prison cell after the registration. I hear the door being locked in my back the moment I got into the cell. I did not know what I was supposed to do so I stood where I am for a while. Then I overheard one guy who came from Gambella region saying \u201cOh Ethiopia\u201d, noticing my confusion. The guys inside the cell talked to me for a while. I\u2019m in Maekelaw, I said it for myself. <\/o:p><\/span><\/div>\n

በግምት ከቀን 10፡30 አካባቢ ቢሮ ውስጥ አብረውኝ ከሚሰሩ ልጆች ጋር ጨዋታ ይዘን ነበር፡፡ እኔ ከጓደኛዬ ወንበር ላይ ቁጭ ብዬ ከጓደኞቼ ጋር ስንነጋገር ሁለት ሰዎች ወደውስጥ ገብተው ‹ናትናኤል ማነው› ሲሉ ጠየቁ፡፡ ወዲያው አንዱ ጓደኛዬ ወደእኔ እየጠቆመ እሱ ነው አለ፡፡ ጉዳዩ የገባው ሰው ከመካከላችን አልነበረም፡፡ እኔም ለሁለቱ ሰዎች ናትናኤል መሆኔን አረጋገጥኩላቸው፡፡ ከዛ አንዴ ፈልገንህ ነው አሉኝ፡፡ ቆይ ላፕቶፔን ልዝጋው ስላቸው እንዲያውም ላፕቶፕህን እንፈልገዋለን ብለው ላፕቶፔን ያዙ፡፡ እሽ አለቃየን ልንገረው ስላቸው ደግሞ አለቃህን መንገር አይጠበቅብህም አሉኝ፡፡ ከዚያም ከቢሮ አስወጥተው ብቻየን አንድ ወንበር ላይ ኮሪደር ላይ አስቀመጡኝ፡፡ ማንነታቸውን ስጠይቃቸው የፍርድ ቤት ማዘዣ አሳዩኝ፡፡ የእነ የበፍቃዱ እና የአጥኔክስን ስም ወረቀቱ ላይ አየሁት፡፡ ያን ጊዜ ገባኝ፡፡<\/p>\n

ፍተሻው እንዳለቀ ራት በላሁ፡፡ ልብስ በኩርቱ ፔስታል ይዤ ከቤት ስወጣ ሰው ሁሉ ተሰብስቦ ተረባበሸ፡፡ በተለይ ልጆቹ እጄን እየጨበጡ ለማስቀረት ሲሞክሩ ተረበሽኩ፡፡ ብዙዎችን እያቀፍኩ እየሳምኩ ተሰናበትኳቸው፡፡ መኪና ውስጥ አንዱ ፖሊስ የእጅ ካቴና አውጥቶ ወደ እኔ ሲመለከት ጉዳዩ ገባኝና ሁለቱን እጆቼን አመቻችቼ ሰጠሁት፡፡ ድርጊቴ ለራሴም ገርሞኝ ነበር፡፡ <\/p>\n

ማዕከላዊ እንደደረስኩ ምዝገባ ላይ የማሂን ስም መዝገቡ ላይ አነበብኩ፡፡ አሁን ጓደኞቼም እንደተያዙ አወቅሁ፡፡ ምዝገባው ተጠናቅቆ ወደእስር ቤት ክፍል ተወሰድኩኝ፡፡ ክፍሉ ውስጥ እንደገባሁ ከኋላየ በሩ ተቆለፈ፡፡ ምን ማድረግ እንዳለብኝ ግራ ገብቶኝ ባለሁበት ፌስታሌን እንደያዝኩ ቆምኩ፡፡ ከዛ ከውስጥ ከነበሩ እስረኞች መካከል ሁኔታየን ያየ አንድ ከጋምቤላ ክልል የመጣ እስረኛ ‹አይ ኢትዮጵያ!› ሲል ተሰማኝ፡፡ ውስጥ ያሉት ሰዎች አረጋጉኝና ትንሽ አወራን፡፡ በቃ ማዕከላዊ ገባሁ አልኩ ለራሴ፡፡ <\/p>\n

I think it was around 4:30pm and I was chatting with my colleagues in the office. Two guys walked in asked “who is Natnael” when I was sitting on my friend’s chair and talking. Immediately one of my friends pointed as me and identified me. None of us have a clue about what is going on. I confirmed to the two guys that I am Natnael. Then they told me that they wanted me. I said “wait let me close my laptop” and they said they also wanted the laptop and they took it. Then I told them that I need to inform my boss and they said I don’t need to. Then they fetched an extra chair and left me alone on the corridor. When I asked who they are they showed me a court warrant. I saw Befqe’s and Atnex’s name on the paper. Then I got it.<\/p>\n

I sat on the corridor quite for some time. I stated to greet my colleagues that were passing on the corridor leaving the office and heading home. I can see their confusion. Normal life continued as if nothing happened. However, I was feeling the world is moving. There are moments where I thought of, even shocked in thinking of being imprisoned. Now I realized that it is the real moment to be imprisoned. The car that the guys were waiting for arrived and we started heading to my house. On our way home, I noticed the people and the city; life goes on. They ordered me to show them my room once we get home. I tried to push the children in the compound to go to their study. The children refused the kept on coming to me. I was disturbed by the children. <\/p>\n

When my house was searched I tried to cover up so that the kids won’t see. My father arrived while they were searching using the video recorder. Without any major sign of disturbance he took of his coat and sat down calmly. Slowly the mood started to be disrupted when my aunt arrived and other people in the compound heard about what’s going on. I tried to calm them down.<\/p>\n

I ate my dinner after they finished the searching. Everyone in my family started to feel bad when I was about to leave the house holding my cloth in a plastic bag. I also felt the same especially when the kids started to pull me back by holding my hands. I hugged and kissed most of them. In the car when one of the police brought a handcuff I gave him both of my hands.  I was surprised by my own action.<\/p>\n

I read Mahi’s name on the registration folder. I realized that they are also imprisoned. I was escorted to a prison cell after the registration. I hear the door being locked in my back the moment I got into the cell. I did not know what I was supposed to do so I stood where I am for a while. Then I overheard one guy who came from Gambella region saying “Oh Ethiopia”, noticing my confusion. The guys inside the cell talked to me for a while. I’m in Maekelaw, I said it for myself. <\/p>\n
